Usman Khawaja, the Australian opener, faced a charge from the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday for wearing an armband during the first Test against Pakistan.

The 37-year-old batter said he wore the black armband for a "personal bereavement" and not to show solidarity with the civilians in Gaza, who are suffering from the ongoing war. He said he will fight the charge from the ICC, but he agreed not to wear the armband in the second Test, which will start from 26 December.

Khawaja is one of the leading batters for Australia and he scored a century in the first innings of the first Test.
